Sankalp Volunteer Society, India

The literary meaning of the Hindi word 'Sankalp' in English is
Take a Pledge
… A pledge to make with people from all parts of the world by 'Sankalp' and in turn a promise with Sankalp by the people to create a unique and different world by way of turning the entire population harmonious and helpful to each other.

Sankalp Volunteer Society, India is a registered non Profitable NGO, since 1994 under the society registration act of India. The organization is active in the socio-economic, cultural development of the society especially for the rural poor and needy children and women with a view to serve more targeted population in various areas. Sankalp expanded its working area and addressed these issues in other discriminated communities in India as well.

Vision
Sankalp visualizes a society where all people - no matter sex, caste or creed are treated equal; where all people have access to education and health facilities; and where everybody has the right to a sustainable livelihood.

Mission
Sankalp is fighting for the social, economical and political rights of discriminated people so that they can live a life in dignity. Sankalp aims to stimulate, activate and motivate the people to help themselves in particular women and children who we see as the most important agents of change. To do so an over-all development approach has been adopted, in which we work on all aspects of life such as education, health, hygiene, as well as income generation. Sankalp has a special focus on the underprivileged and abandoned communities.

Program Experience
"It was great to have the feeling of actually helping Street Children to get an education. It was very rewarding to see how happy they were with the
small things that I did, although it was sometimes very tiresome to try and keep them under control. My experience during the program was unforgettable. People at Sankalp were always ready to answer my endless questions. The children are adorable: they seem to be close knit
group, comfortable”
